Salon Re-fresh - updating our space

Studioandcomakeover.jpg

The stylist at the salon where I work have been dying to add some personality and warmth to our space since we moved in a few years ago. I was so excited to get started on this.

There was a lot of planning involved. Measuring, not so fun. Online shopping, so fun! The bonus was creating a mural and being asked to include my artwork on the walls.

As luck would have it my husband and I went away during the planning of this and it allowed me some mental space and some time to sketch. I had so much fun creating a collection of work through digital sketches.

It was so fun to play in this medium and new series of work emerged that is still keeping me in the studio!

We installed a week before Thanksgiving, and 4 paintings sold immediatly. It is the most amazing feeling when people reacts to your work in just the way you felt painting them.

I’ll write more about my inspiration behind this series in an upcoming post.

But, since we all love a before, during and after…here ya go!

It is so nice to see these paintings all hanging together. I had made enough work that I was able to fill the empty spots with new work once paintings sold.

Next up, I’ll share a bit more on the process and thoughts behind all the new paintings. You can view them here if you want to see more.
