20 for 2020

I like to think of January as a buffer month. December is so outta this world crazy, that I am not ready for goal setting and reflection on that very first day. Instead, I use the typical quite of January to re-group and plan.

This January has actually been pretty busy with a ton of book stuff, and Carve Out Time for Art projects so I am moving a bit slower.

I know you’re on pin and needles! (Still think there needs to be a sarcasm font.) And know that putting this out for all to see always makes me feel nervous. The accountability and that writing out loud holds a bit of power so I will let that outweigh my fears.

  1. Cut my debt in half/Build savings

So last year this seemed counterintuitive. This year I am going to spend the first 6 months focused on debt and the last 6 on savings.

  2. Take 3 hair classes/at least 1 out of the salon.

The salon has really good education opportunities and I love to learn. This should be fun and easy

  3. Read one business or self-improvement book a month.

Just finished “Ask and it is Given” and am currently reading “The Big Leap”

  4. Re-do downstairs bathroom

A project that has been put off way too long. I’ve spent January gathering estimates

  5. 1-2 distance runs a month

While I know I don’t have the time to commit to a major training plan, I really miss my long runs from marathon training. January passed without one though.

  6. Solo show

This is the year. I know the body of work I want to present and am working on logistics

  7. Inventory Art

A holdover from 2019, I still want to get this checked off my list.

  8. Monthly household meetings

It’s easy to get off the same page when our lives are so busy, so I think this will help a lot. Bonus if we can do them over margaritas!

  9. Re-Vamp website

I have begun tweaking, but really hope to freshen’ her up by the end of the month, so she’s all sparkly before I attend Alt Summit

  10. Plan book launch

We had a marketing meeting this week and now I just need to check on the date with the venue. West Elm Baltimore date TBA

  11. Fancy dinners

We are working on our table manners with the kiddos so once a month we are having a “fancy” dinner. The first one was about a 50% success. (I won’t share which 50%) Our plan is to go OUT to a fancy dinner once December rolls around.

  12. Make vision board

I don’t think I have ever done this but it sounds like it would be fun. The kids want to join too. So I have a stack of magazines just need to set aside the time to do them.

  13. Schedule vacations and book

This is about 90% done. Since my spring is specially scheduled out so I feel better getting things on the calendar and booked. It frees up some mental space for other stuff AND I love looking forward to them.

  14. Adventures with my mom

More hikes, movies, and shenanigans with my mama

  15. Mastermind group

I wanted to pull this together in the fall but didn’t get there. I just have to re-send the invitation, pull together everyone’s’ bios and get some dates on the calendar. Sounds easy right?

  16. Text or talk to Carrie every 2 weeks

    I miss my bestie

  17. Invest in my businesses

We’ve made Carve Out Time for Art an LLC, Heather Kirtland Art has some marketing funds, and Hair Artistry by Heather has a new dyer, sharpened scissors and soon and education budget

  18. Make COTFA official

Almost there….LLC, EIN and soon we’ll have our commerce up and running!

  19. One on one time with the kids

I did pretty well with this last year and want to continue. Today is glass blowing with Violet. Jack and I are due for a few dates though.

  20. IGTV, PINTEREST, and TIC TOK

Big sigh. I need to up my game in all these areas. First, is shooting and editing videos. I am taking a Pinterest class this week. My goal is to make this fun not overwhelming.

Well, there you have it! As of February 2nd, I am ready for my new year.
